Today, SMH diligently continues to work towards its mission in caring for its patients of lesser means and aspires to keep up to the different modernizations and upgrades of technology in the medical field of research development and provides healthcare at an affordable/subsidized cost to the people in and around Ranipet, covering 75 villages, six towns, 10 panchayats with a population of approximately 25 lakhs irrespective of cast, creed or socioeconomic condition.
The vision for the hospital was a seed planted by Dr. John Scudder, a medical missionary from the United States of America in 1819 which after years of hard work and determination, was established as Scudder Memorial Hospital by Dr. Silas Scudder in 1866
